My name is Nate Wood, and I run Stahman Guitars. This is a one-man operation. I provide my clients with unique, handcrafted instruments and quality repair work.
I graduated from the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery in Phoenix, Arizona in 2011. After I left Arizona, I got lucky enough to apprentice under Ryan Thorell in Utah. Working as a two-person team in Ryan’s shop was great, and I learned a lot of valuable techniques. The raw attitude of Ryan Thorell’s instruments has, of course, bled into my own creations a bit.
In October of 2014, I left everything I had in Utah and moved to Portland, Oregon. Turns out there are plenty of guitars in the city, and I had lots of work to do. I’ve now relocated to Springfield, Oregon. I look forward to whatever this place throws my way!
When I’m not doing repair work, I’m building. My guitars are made from as much salvaged/used/reclaimed/”green” material as possible. My inspiration is pulled from classic designs, with building techniques looking honestly at the present and future. A portion of my profit is donated to environmental and civil rights organizations, so you can feel good about putting your money where your mouth is.
Thanks for stopping by.
